Difficulties of landing job because of new SSN

Hello everyone,

I received my EAD the first of this month. I have been trying now for two weeks to land a job at a popular retail store with no success. My first application was on the 15th of this month. The interview went smooth, passed drugged test, but the next day manager informed me that my background check had failed. I had to call the background checking company to tell them that I did not have a criminal record and they told me that because my SSN is new it's not passing my background test for the company.

so now I have to wait about 30 days for the system to reboot. 30 days of no work. This sucks. I guess I could try applying at jobs that don't do background checks for the mean time, but who doesn't run them nowdays?

Anyone had a similar experience?

Sounds like the bacground check company is using an old High-Group table from the SSA to verify SSN. The SSN probably is in a series that is not yet on the table.

Sounds like you could sue. Sounds like discriminaiton to me, Contact a lawyer and you might get enough money that you won't have to work. I would check with a lawyer

You can discrimate in USA based on Color, Creed, Religion, Etc. sounds like you should contact an attorney and see if they will take you case..... You get a settlement and the lawyer gets 33% of the settlement......

If an employer cannot determine if SSN is a valid number, they can put off employing a person, this is not a mater of discrimination, it is a matter of verification, for withholding taxes.

I see posts of banks doing same thing when they cannot verify a SSN, happens often with newly minted SSN if it is a number that is not yet on the published list of valid numbers.
