You don't pay to have them look into the case for you. You can look on the USCIS website or you can call them and ask, the may or may not tell you.

Hi there,

I've received my NOA1 since 25th Nov and beginning to wonder which file are they working on right now? Is there a way to check? If I have to wait longer than 5 months. Do we really need to hire senators or congressman? How much would that cost?

First, you may want to update your timeline as I believe only Vermont and California service centers handle K-1 visas. You probably sent your app to the Texas lockbox facility for check processing and then it was transferred to either VT or CA, depending on where you live. If your receipt number begins with an "E", its in VT, if it begins with a "W", its in CA. Right now, California is working much faster than Vermont. If you call USCIS customer service, they should give you a date of applications that is currently being processed. This date is just an idea because they only update the "date" once a month, usually in the middle of the month. The latest date from Vermont is September 11, though applications from before and after Sept 11 have been approved recently. I have been waiting for more than 6 months and finally got my Senator involved and am waiting for a progress report on Monday. Contacting your senators or congressmen is free (you are their constituent), but they will require you to fill out a privacy release to request information. I wish you lots of luck, especially as a fellow British/American couple!

Thanks a lot for the reply. Think my case is in VT. It sucks not knowing either what they are exactly doing in your case or they just leave it in a thousands of piles? If I have an idea I would be more happier. We haven't got any REF's request either. But I guess I'll have to wait until next month (5 months mark) but thx a lot all the best for you too :) and good luck on Monday

I know this visa thing is so frustration and being apart from your loved one is even harder. At least you got yours approved and you will soon be with your loved one. But mine is seem like in the air somewhere plus I haven't heard a thing about my petition yet this is driving me nuts :( ohhhhhhh I definitely going to take all my frustration out at the next voting poll too lol

No I haven't looked yet I'm still new in this site but thanks for the advice :)

Spend some of your waiting time perusing this site. It has some great information and I've gotten lots of answers to my questions right here. And don't forget to update your service center and timeline on your profile. Good luck!

FYI, Vermont is processing at or after 16 Sept 2010 as of this past Friday. They didn't tell me the exact date, however finally let me submit a service request. Just the day before they wouldn't let me submit one because they were still reporting they were processing 11 Sept.

Touched 3 Oct 10

Placed Service Request 25 March 11

NOA2 4 April 11

Left NVC 15 April 11

Packet 3 letter dated 19 April 11

Packet 3 response sent 6 May 11

Interview 26 May 11

K1 received 1 June 11

Entered US 26 June 11

I just got a letter in the mail from Senator Cardin's off saying the request to expedite our petition was approved and we should be hearing something "shortly"! I'm not sure how to translate "shortly", but at least its something.

Congrats to you at least "Shorty" is better than nothing. I hope you get yours soon. All the best for everything :)
