Philippines: K-1 vs CR-1?

Haven't started any processes yet but im planning to go over to the Philippines to meet someone in May. I've been looking up info to be prepared for the future when i do start a process of bringing her to the US. I understand the difference in wait times, but im more concerned about any problems that may come up when filing a K-1 or CR-1. I've made around 22,000 - 23,000 a year for the last few years, but was recently laid off. Haven't taken any unemployment, and im planning to look for work after i visit her, but i could (and probably should) have a co-sponsor when i file.

I've read that the Philippines does not allow co-sponsors on a K-1. I've also read that they do, but usually disapprove it except in the cases of students. Is there any truth to this? It seems kind of unclear. If the K-1 isn't an option (or is most likely going to be denied), does that mean the CR-1 is the best course of action?

Please someone advise me so i have some idea what my chances are with either of these.

K1 is a fiance visa, and CR-1 is a spouse visa, to begin with. Different processing requirements, times, and costs.

Hopefully May brings your better half into better focus. My wife and I discussed both before we married. She wanted to be married close to her family so they could attend so CR1 was our route. Hope you find who you are looking for, I know I did!!
