Hi! I'm a fulltime student and my uncle's my joint sponsor for the K3 of my husband. Can he fill out the I134 for me? Do I need to write a statement why I dont have an income? Will it be a problem at the interview? Please help me in this situation. Thanks.....

I searched the embassy site in Sri Lanka and the only Affidavit of support they indicate is the I-864.

You are a bit more lucky it is a form that is structured for co-sponsors and the instructions are understandable.

You will fill out the I-864, and your father fills out an I-864A form.

Refer to Embassy site:

dinu,

Good question. Your uncle will be your husband's sponsor. Whether or not the consular officer will want to see your financial information as well, or a statement as to why you are not going to be your husband's sponsor, may not become known until your husband is at his interview. To be on the safe side you might want to give your husband your financial package in case it's required of him.

The Sri Lanka Consulate site is also very minimal in the information it offers. One must remember that the I-134 when used is only so a conof can decide if the applicant will or wont become a public charge.....It is not compulsory that an I-134 be used but it is in most cases used in conjuction with other documentation. An I-864 is set down in the FAMM as not to be used in K visa cases. And to date there is no indication that an I-864 is required in order for a K visa to be granted. There has been the occasional post where a consulate supposedly gave a choice of either the I-134 or I-864, never a requirement. And as one very knowledgeable person said to me just recent, many misinterpret what is being asked of them, as well as consulates not always being very clear in their requirements.
