I just wanted to say that I also was never scared riding the Metro before the incident, but for something like that to happen can change your perspective a bit. It was at that moment that I made my decision not to subject myself to riding the Metro day after day and that I would simply need to find a job that I could drive to. So that's exactly what I've done. Chances are, nothing like that would ever happen again, but that's just not a risk I was willing to take. I don't want to go out that way.

As for that list: It has Atlanta as more dangerous than Cincinnati and Cleveland. I'd choose Atlanta (not downtown ) over either OH cities any day.

You ever take the subway in Hong Kong or Singapore? They make the US subways look like toilets.

Even the subway in Calcutta (the filthiest city I've ever been in!) is sparkling clean compared to NYC.

I have never been to Calcutta. I learn something new every day.

well the good news is that the houses in Baltimore are way cheaper than the ones in DC. The bad news is that you've got to figure there's a reason for that...

Baltimore is nice in it's center of town, but that could be said for most cities in their 'metrosexual' areas...the ballpark is really nice though (Yay Tejada!)

I say come on out here and have a look around. It all depends on where in town you chose to settle. Most of DC is pretty haggard but we live in an okay part of town, it takes some looking though.
