I have a few questions regarding I-864 and I-864A:

1. Can I type these forms from the internet instead of filing them out by pen?

2. It says on the instructions that the case number should be written on the top right hand corner of all the docs...does that mean I have to write the case no. on top of every page of the forms or just the first page?

3. In the sections where I have to mention my individual income and tax returns I have written a letter to explain why I didn't file taxes as I wasn't working and since I just started working I am also including a letter from my employer..so my question is can I just put a note in those sections somewhere saying something like "see the attached letter for more information" or should I leave it like that and they'll figure out once they read my letter?

4. It says in the instructions that if you are using a household member's income then you need to show the proof of his/her residence...how do I show that?

5. On form I-864A Part 1 it says "Information on the Household Member. (You). Does that mean me or my dad (who's income I am using as my household member)?

Any help in this regard would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Kiny

I have a few questions regarding I-864 and I-864A:

1. Can I type these forms from the internet instead of filing them out by pen?

Answer: Yes the PDF forms are designed to do just that. Use the newest ones form USCIS Links here.

Adobe Reader is needed. Get from http://www.adobe.com/

http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/files/I-864.pdf

http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/for...iles/I-864a.pdf

2. It says on the instructions that the case number should be written on the top right hand corner of all the docs...does that mean I have to write the case no. on top of every page of the forms or just the first page?

Answer: On the forms I do not see a place for a case number, just your SSN and A-number for immigrant

Answer: Make note that you are relying on co-sponsor, Include note from employer, and copy of pay stubs going back 6 months.

4. It says in the instructions that if you are using a household member's income then you need to show the proof of his/her residence...how do I show that?

Answer: The co sponsor will provide this attached to the I-864A

5. On form I-864A Part 1 it says "Information on the Household Member. (You). Does that mean me or my dad (who's income I am using as my household member)?

Answer: Father since he should be filling out the I-864A

Any help in this regard would be appreciated.

I have a few questions regarding I-864 and I-864A:

1. Can I type these forms from the internet instead of filing them out by pen?

The I-864 & I-864A are available on the USCIS site in 'fillable' format.

http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/index.htm

2. It says on the instructions that the case number should be written on the top right hand corner of all the docs...does that mean I have to write the case no. on top of every page of the forms or just the first page?

All pages.

Never hurts to direct them to the additional information.

5. On form I-864A Part 1 it says "Information on the Household Member. (You). Does that mean me or my dad (who's income I am using as my household member)?

Information on the Household Member is exactly that. If you are using your dads income then he is the Household Member.

Answer: Make note that you are relying on co-sponsor,

Answer: The co sponsor will provide this attached to the I-864A

There is no joint sponsor as such. The I-864A is a contract between the sponsor and a household member to have their income included on the I-864.

Answer: Father since he should be filling out the I-864A

Both the sponsor and household member complete and sign the I-864A as it is submitted as an attachment to the I-864. It isn't a seperate affidavit of support.
