Apple is a marketing machine. Who else could get millions of people to pay tomorrows prices for yesterdays technology?

Yesterday's technology?

Was there anything like the iPhone back in 2007? Anything like the iPad in early 2010?

I see lots of copycats now - Droid, Samsung Galaxy - but who had anything even remotely approaching their level of technology back when Apple first released those products?

So you buy the eBooks instead of textbooks?

all of my textbooks come with e versions probably because they're so damn heavy. I've noticed it's only the science and medical textbooks that come with both.

I bought an eBook this semester. Great for online classes where the test questions are direct quotes from the book.

Either try to answer 60 questions in 2 hours by manually looking for key words in the index and searching through hundreds of pages.

Or just type part of the question in the search box of the eBook and within seconds locate the correct answer.

Again, please name a company that made better phones than the iPhone when the iPhone was originally released (Jan 2007).

Please name a tablet manufacturer that made a better tablet than the iPad in April 2010.

The answer is none. Apple is certainly a pioneer, but they tend to lose interest and let others release better, more compelling products after they introduce their product. Example: Android phones are quickly stealing market share from Apple, and, in fact, and more popular at this point in terms of sales.

The iPad is the best tablet. The iPhone was revolutionary, no doubt and it is an awesome pocket computer. For actual use as phone where call quality and signal strength are important, there are better devices on the market.

I don't think it's Apple's fault that AT&T has a shitty network.

Besides, don't they have a Verizon iPhone nowadays?

There is a Verizon iPhone now. There are phones with better call quality and rf than the iPhone. The bells and whistles are what wow everyone, but if you work in construction on the job site or any type of rough environment, a smartphone isn't usually a good choice. The most rugged phones are the Motorola iDen's used with Nextel. They aren't sexy, but you can throw them against a wall and they still work.
