Service Center Question

Hey all again, I may already know the answer to this question but I just want to double check.

I sent our I-130 petition to the Chicago Lockbox, however I see there are four different locations that are service centers:

  • California Service Center (CSC)
  • Nebraska Service Center (NSC?)
  • Texas Service Center (TSC?)
  • Vermont Service Center (VSC)

Being from the midwest I'd assume it'd probably go to the Nebraska Service Center, however I can only find NOA1/2 time line info for CSC and the VSC.

However, I've got the hunch that the Chicago Lockbox simply looks at the volume of applications in each of the 4 and keeps them even?

Any insight into how this works would be helpful!

-Thanks!

Only CSC and VSC process spouse petitions. Some of the Midwest goes to one and some to the other. Even so, the facility in Chicago will make that decision based on workload and other considerations. You'll know pretty soon where your petition was sent.

Ahh I see... well I was close to figuring it out, at least I worked out that the Chicago Lockbox was just a sorting center. =D

Thanks pushbrk for the clarification!

It's more than a sorting center. They do "intake", which means they accept and assign or actually "reject" petitions.
