my husband came in on f1 visa...had an I94 but lost it a few years ago.. his last entry into the u.s. was sep 1997(one year before it expired)...and the last time before that was sept 1995..we are filling out the I130 form for permanent residency~ he knows what his arrival/departure document number for 1995 re-entry but not for 1997... Is there any chance that the arrival/departure number would stay the same each visit? what would happen if anything if the arrival /departure number changed each time and we were to go ahead and put the number that he knows for his 1995 arrival into u.s? or how do we go about getting that information.

You should be able to obtain his information from the CBP. The arrival/dept. Numbers on the I94 are the same from the one form.

Apr 30 2012 - Pay AOS fee
Oct 15 2012 - Pay IV fee
Oct 25 2012 - Sent AOS/IV Package
Oct 29 2012 - Pkg Delivered
Dec 24 2012 - Case Complete
May 17 2013 - Interview-Approved

July 19 2013 - Enter the USA
