Hello to all K-1 folks who have dealt with the U.S. Special Interests section in Havana. I just called today and got an interview date of October 26, 2011. What an immense amount of time to wait! The lady I spoke with said I can call every other day to try to move up that date, as she said cancellations could result in getting the date moved up. Rescheduling requests are handled on a first come, first served basis, so she suggested calling every other day.

My question is, does anyone have experience trying to move up the interview date by calling in as this person suggested I do? One has to go through the BS of buying a PIN for $11, which gives you only 8 minutes of time. So assuming that an average call will take two minutes for somebody to tell me that nothing has changed, that equates to four calls per $11...and if I call every other day, that means I'm looking at spending about $55 per month to be able to monitor whether any openings have occurred due to cancellations. I'd like to hear from anyone who has tried and the results of such efforts.

Thanks very much for your time. Adelante2010.

I'd be curious to know how it goes if you give it a try as well. I think you might be a bit "fortunate" to have October 26 scheduled as of today. I scheduled about 3 weeks ago, and have October 24. I see other timelines with November interview dates. Best of luck rescheduling...I hope it works, but please let us know so we can all continue to pay $11 for 8 minutes of time...I agree it's a BS scheduling system, especially if you call back with 4 minutes left on your PIN, and they tell you to purchase a new PIN because there's not enough time left to schedule with your current PIN. Frustrating...but at least you have a date now, and congratulations.
