Manila: Wedding Date on Marriage Cert differ from actual

Good Evening!

Getting ready to file CR1 for my hubby in the Philippines and noticed a discrepancy on our wedding certificate.

Our official wedding date was 01/28/11. However, the date on marriage certificate is 01/31/11. Was this an issue at the USEm in Manila? Also, some of our wedding pictures have 01/28/11 date stamped.

Anyone have this same experience? How was it handled?

Sorry I don't have a solution, but a possible reason could be there was a waiting period after getting the mariage license and you

got married before the waiting period was up. Maybe someone was being "helpful" and post dated the certificate.

Did you get married after securing the marriage license from the local municipality? If yes, all you need to do is report it to the department (in the municipality) who handles marriage certificates. They will ask you to submit an affidavit (we did). If it has been forwarded to NSO and you have your marriage certificate printed on security paper, you need to report it to NSO and they will give you further instructions. I am hoping it has not been forwarded to NSO yet so you could have it fixed easily.

Just for tidiness of paperwork you should get this reconciled to the proper day. Otherwise the CO could ask some simple questions that raise big suspicions at the interview. Not saying it is probable, just it would be one less worry going into it.

You really have not given enough details to get a proper answer.

Sometimes the dates just don't match for valid reasons, example:

In our case, we had our ceremony on Jan 21th. The documents were all signed on that day. The Mayor officiated and we left that afternoon for our honeymoon.

Our "Official" wedding date in Jan 30 because we just filled out the license application on Jan 20th! This means we couldn't legally be officially married until the 30th.

I believe my situation is similar to 'Bob 4 Anna'. The 10 day waiting period is what its all about. Also, for NSO purposes, we used 01/31/11 as our official wedding date as written on the marriage certificate.

Then you will use 1/31/11 as your wedding date on all documents that ask for it regardless of if it's for immigration purposes or otherwise.
