I am not trying to burst your bubble but it may be a little early to get the police certificate.....I am not trying to be a negative person, just real. You just started the visa process and someone please tell me if I am wrong in stating that the police cert is only good for 6 months.....we got our police cert a few weeks ago and we are just at about the 5 month mark and nervous we did it to soon.....plan on your fiance being in kingston ALL waiting......i know we were to apply and then my husband was there all day to pick up and still wasnt ready and had to go back the next day.....

~ 11/06/08 K-1 visa was denied and a 2 year ban placed on our file

What are you people thinking..?

In a Rush?

Comments

This make no sense. A person who started the process 2 weeks ago have 8 more months to GO and already trying to obtain a police clearance - this is straight mad. Desperation.

Police certificates are usually valid for 1 year...

Might be too early- you could wait few months..but then again...you see January and February filers getting their NOA2s nowadays....who knows, maybe you'll be among the lucky ones! Good luck!

My husband is in Kingston getting his police certificate today also. This is his fourth visit. He is suppose to pick it up today. Then he will mail it to me. The mail usually takes about 10-14 days to get to me. We just got our NVC case# yesterday. I am glad we din't get it sooner as it has been 7 months since we started this process. I hope and pray that your journey is much quicker than ours. Good luck.

In Jamaica - I believe they are valid for 6 months - However, there was a recent situation (I think it was June) where people that had interviews were blue slipped and told to get a new police report - due to the whole Dudus / corruption / etc.... issues going on -

I completely understand being anxious to move things along - but you are way early in the police record - start having him gather the other stuff he needs - Make sure he has documentation of his medical records, get the needed shots at a clinic if he doesn't have them - Get his school records together, get letters of references from employers,................ lots of other things to be organized.

Also, look at the timelines here - there are people who filed K1 through Vermont with an NOA1 of early September still waiting - So that's 6 months already, even if they got approved today, it's at least another month or two to interview............

Glad he got through with it. Hopefully, you'll be good to go when your time comes around. The above mentioned quote is why we haven't rushed to get it yet. Anyways... how was the process? Did he give any specifics? 6:30am to 10am is not that bad, I guess! lol

People try to save you money - if you want to needlessly spend money to get the police report twice - more power to you. But telling people to get over it isn't gonna get you a whole lot of help when you need it - Good luck on the rest of your process since you seem to know it all already -

Exactly and Sus you know me well.. and a few other members.. I wont touch this person's post with a long stick.. help and in a time when help seems scarce in this section. You can rush / or other things that are beneficial as mentioned - get shots/shot records, proper Birth Cert. etc.

** Sus - haven't seen you on FaceBook Lately**
