Hello,

I am an Indian citizen currently in US on an F1 visa. I have couple of question on B2 visa

1) If i wish to bring in my parents currently in India here in US on B2 visa(tourist visa) for a week or 2, what kind of finances do they need to show at visa consulate. Can i be a sponsor for their trip?

To make things little simpler i can have a letter from my university stating that my parents are visiting for graduation ceremony.

2) Is it necessary to file visa application in the country of residence. A friend of mine(Indian citizen) lives in UK on work permit. Can he file for visa application in UK??

3) I hear that you are not guaranteed entry in US even if you have a B2 visa?? True or rumor?

Thanks

1. You cannot sponsor them, and there is no specific amount of money they must have; it's all about ties to their home country. So if they have jobs, property, a savings account, kids/ grandkids in India, that will all help. A formal letter from the university is not needed, though a graduation announcement would certainly show good reason for them to travel.

2. They can apply in any country where they are legally resident, so the UK is fine.

3. True. It is unlikely someone with a B2 is refused entry, but the CBP officer at the airport always has the final say.
