Interview to visit daughter - should mention she's pregnant?

My wife's parents are applying in China for a VISA to visit us in the US for 6 months.

In the interview, they can point to good indicators that they will return to China:

their other children and grandchild are in China; the Chinese government sponsors their

housing and pension, and they have ample saving in the bank. However,

we wonder if they should or should not mention in the interview that they are coming to

be at hand for the birth of their grandchild.

My wife came over on a K1 Visa and now has a conditional

permanent Green Card. We have been married almost two years.

We have heard of other parents wishing to make similar visits who have been repeatedly denied.

While we would very much like her parents to be completely honest and thus completely relaxed for the

interview, we hope that we are not making some terrible mistake in guiding them so.

Any advise please?

Never lie. If asked why they are visiting, simply saying 'to visit our daughter' is not a lie. If pressed on why or the timing of the visit, then it is likely to come out if one is being truthful

I think the purpose of your parents-in-law's visit is to see their daughter and welcome their new born grand-baby. They do not need to mention taking care of the baby specifically!

I also do not think that it is a lie. Visiting includes helping while they are here, right? Parents would not just sit there and watch without giving a hand if needed in any situation.

At interview, as other say, answer what is asked briefly, do not add anything if it is not asked.

Yes, many parents visits are rejected but also many parents get visa like my parents when I were there. Just focus on evidences that they have strong link with China and will return China on time.

Plus, 6 months stay is given by USA officer when they go through USA custom. Normally in their visa application about how long they will stay, filling in 2 months is helpful. But they can stay up to 6 months.
