Hi there! Thanks to everyone who extended their help to me in one way or another thru visajourney. By the first week of March, we will send already the application to chicago lockbox since it is an i-485 application with concurrent i-130. Before I do so, I just need some more comments on the following that I need to finalize:

1. I am planning to put the i-130 and i-485 in one envelope and all other attachments/evidence(is that right)?

2. The 1-485 application must also have the i-765 (work authorization) and i-864 (affidavit of support) as attachments (is this right)?

3. Does the affidavot of support need a cover letter?

4. So I am sending all of it to only one address right, which is the Chicago Lockbox?

5. After all of this is done, what happens on a step by step procedure? Can someone elbaorate to me please? Thanks and God bless everybody!

One more thing, my husband filed a bankruptcy three years ago. Will it affect his affidavit of support as he is my primary and only sponsor. He has current employment and has been with the company for ten years and his income is above the 125% poverty line for a household with 2 members.

Yes that's right.

2. The 1-485 application must also have the i-765 (work authorization) and i-864 (affidavit of support) as attachments (is this right)?

The I-765 is a separate application from the I-485, The I-864 goes in tandem with the I 485.

3. Does the affidavot of support need a cover letter?

No

4. So I am sending all of it to only one address right, which is the Chicago Lockbox?

Yes

5. After all of this is done, what happens on a step by step procedure? Can someone elbaorate to me please? Thanks and God bless everybody!

If you look at others timelines than you know that the order goes as follows

NOA1-->NOA2--->Biometrics--> Interview----> Approval/Denial----->Happily Ever After

You will get touched(Someone will look at your file from time to time)

The bankruptsy won't matter.

Thank you. So even if the i-765 is different from i-485, i still have to file it together in the i-485 application, is that right? and so it goes to the same address? many thanks.

Agree with Myopia, except on one thing. For a concurrent filer, the NOA2 comes when the GC is approved. The I-485 and I-130 are approved together at or after the interview, not before like a CR-1 visa path.

OP - Yes, there are a bunch of forms that get filed together, in the same envelope, to the same address. The I-765 is a temporary measure that allows you to work in case your GC takes a long time. The GC interview is coming fairly fast lately, so most people only use their EAD for maybe a few weeks before they get their GC. The GC gives you travel and work permission, and therefore makes the EAD irrelevant.

Good luck.

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!

Yes. The fee is waived for the I-765 because you have filed it in tandem with the I-485
