getting driving permit

HEy everyone.. so Im planning to take the test for my driving permit and I was going through the requirements and it says I have to bring Foreign passport (unexpired) with appropiate immigration documents (Valid Passport containing visa & I-94 or I-551 stamp)... so I dont have a problem with the passport but what I want to know is when they refer to unexpired .. do they refer to the I-94 too? .. because my I-94 expired in January 1st.... do you think that will be a problem to get my driving permit?

THanks!

The technically correct answer to that depends on the statutes in your state. The real answer is that many DMV officials don't know statutes too well and will either grant you a privilege you are not entitled to or will not grant you one you are entitled do. Go to the office and see what they do. If they don't give you one, politely argue and whine a little, sometimes that works. And later on when the 'error' is discovered it won't be your fault nor will they penalize you for it.

I agree....unfortunately the driver license is a state affair here in the US, all you can really do is take all the paperwork you have to the DMV And see what will happen. I live in California, they wanted to see my passport and if I had a social security number. They looked at the bio page to see if this is me and put the ssn in their system and then I proceeded with the written test for the DL.

Good luck, hope you get your permit !!! :)
