Whoops that number is 1-800-908-9946.

I used this number today and was told that I could only go back as far as the last 3 years which is 2007. if I wanted more, I would have to go to the IRS website and fill in a form to request them. and it may take up to 6 weeks or more to get them back.

Has anyone experienced this?

I've not personally had the experience but it has been confirmed to be so a number of times in the past.

My IO didn't even want to look at my tax returns. He said he already had a copy of it all. He DID go through all of my bank/credit card statements, asked me where my insurance policy was and if my husband was my beneficiary and vice versa. He was very interested in seeing proof that we were still legally married but he did not touch my tax returns.

That's confusing! I thought for the N-400 based on marriage you had to provide tax transcripts OR other evidence of being still married. Didn't we just provide all that for the Removal of Conditions???

Hello, it is almost time! I will be applying for citizenship ( based on marriage with a US citizen for 3 years) in less than 2 months, tax period ends on april 15th. I am not sure if I can have transcript for this past year on time, since we haven't even filed yet.

I guess it is fine to show the last 3 years(2009, 2008 and 2007) right? since the day that I send my application will be before april 15 .

Do I have to pay a fee for that and how long it takes to receive it? I heard that they can even fax it to you, is this information correct?

Thank you all!

Yea, the years of tax returns you have will do. You do not have to pay any fee for your tax transcripts. To save you some time, you may just walk into your nearest IRS office and request them. They'll give them to you on the spot - no charge.
