Family member count I-864

Hi there,

First of all I would like to thank the members of this forums, I had been visiting these forums for the past 2 months and taking information.I had recently married end of november 2010 and filed petition to sponsor my wife on jan 10 2011. I have a few questions in regards to affidavit of support form.

I currently live with my parents and will be using them for I-864 application, they will use I-864A. My current family that lives with me is

1. Myself - I-864

2. Dad - I-864A

3. Mom - I-864A

4. Sister (Under 18)

---------

1. Spouse- Filing for her

While reading the application my total comes out to 4 as it asks "OPTIONAL: If you have siblings, parents, or adult children with the same principal residence who are combining their income with yours by submitting Form I-864A, enter the number here." I will only be using my parents income for affidavit of support help. We are all filed under as dependents of my father on IRS.

So technically my household size would be 5(including my wife who i am sponsoring,my sister and my parents), but according to the forum it adds up to only 4 is the number 4 correct(the forum is using my parents, myself and my spouse)

Q1. Please advise me which number would be correct so i can calculate 125% correctly.

Q2. Can I use the following site and add 25% to the applicable number as I am unable to find 2011 poverty guidelines on uscis site

http://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty/11poverty.shtml

Thanks,

Faizan

Your household size is 2, you and spouse.

If you are adding a parent's income to your income in order to qualify then that parent is counted and that parent completes form I-864A. That parent would be counted on line 21g.

If one parent's income is needed the count on line 21h would be 3.

Here is the link to the I-864P income guidelines: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864p.pdf
