pending green card - can i get driver's license?

I traveled here on an ESTA tourist visa from Denmark to pend for a green card here in NY because my father is american citizen.

I would like to hear if it is possible for me to get a driver's license whilst my green card is pending?

You will likely need your actual card in your hand to apply for the drivers license.

NY allows you to use your foreign DL, until you become a permanent resident, then you need to apply for a DL or a Learner's Permit.

Nope, NY requires Legal Presence Document, before they will issue a DL.

In our case my wife had SSN, and we did not bother trying for a DL until had Green-card.
