This is correct, a person getting a 1099 needs to pay their own taxes, employer does not withhold tax.

Note this has to do with I-134 which comes up at the visa interview, NOT when filing a petition, moving this to Embassy/Consulate forum..

Hello

My form 1099 came without any taxes. It just showed the amount that my employer paid to me. Is this ok?

1099 is for self employer persons. Basically they didn't deduct taxes as you worked as an independent contractor and are responsible for paying your own taxes.

I worked in a private coffee shop. I did everything such as buying all foods and ordering things everything. But is this count independnt contractor job? I do not want to get problem during the interview with this.I do not want embassy ask why you worked in coffee shop as independet contractor.

Yes this counts as independent contractor, and you will be paying the taxes on your IRS return. Also responsible for paying SSA, and any state taxes.

The consulate could care less about your employment, all they are conserved with is your income and if you are able to sponsor an immigrant.

The 1099 is a report where the guy issuing it tells you: this is what I reported to the IRS as income I paid to you. The tax people now know about this!

Now you take this 1099 to your tax professional and pay income tax on it. What you need for immigration purposes is the income tax return, the 1040. The 1099 is just the basis for it. So you basically where working as a subcontractor, not an employee.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.
