We filed in Manila, and they did not consider the co-sponsor form. :( I am 23 and my fiance is 22, we met on a school-exchange program, and he filed a k1 for me. He graduated from military school May 2010 and he started working afterwards in the National Guard and as a security guard as well. Because he just started working, we had no tax returns or anything, but we had his dad co-sponsor for us. He came to my interview, and it was just a few weeks ago. Almost got denied because he had a small salary ( just above the requirement) and we were told by the CO that they do not consider co-sponsor for k1... the only reason we were approved is because I showed my work experience in Manila and China as a speech therapist and showed my diploma for them to see that I do not intend for my fiance to support me since I will work once I get my GC.

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

I think it's best for K-1s to forget about co sponsors in Thailand and PHP.

I-129F Sent : 2008-04-08

I-129F NOA1 : 2008-04-14

I-130 approved 2008-09-05

NVC received 2008-09-12

Pay I-864 2008-10-08

Pay IV bill 2008-10-08

(I'm going for the IR-1 and blowing off the K-3. Even if it takes an extra couple months, it's worth it to not have to deal with USCIS again)

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Well it doesn't matter whether it's Thailand or London, the dude is going to have to come up with some tax returns at some point. I'd suggest he get those filed.

In addition, as a US citizen, he should have been filing taxes for his internet business.

Yeah, they nailed me for every $ I made while living in Thailand. The nice thing was I went back and amended all my tax returns back to 2006 and changed them from single to married filing jointly as soon as the wife got her SS#. I got 10k USD out of that from Uncle Sam.
