TN Visa to Permanent Resident?

I am the US Fiance of a Canadian Citizen who is working and living in the US on a TN visa. We assume his TN will be renewed in Nov 2011, when it expires. Would it be better/easier to apply for a K1 fiance visa, or wait until after we are married (which will probably be in 2012), and apply for the K3 Spouse visa?

He has already been issued a social security number, and will file a US Federal income tax return for calendar year 2010, if that makes any difference...

Could always courthouse marry now, and simply file an I-130 and I-485 to adjust status..

Then plan a nice wedding ceremony for sometime in the future.

AOS from an employment visa is much less problematic than from a tourist visa.

Forget the K-3, USCIS has reduced processing time for I-130 (CR-1 spouse) so much so that they have been tying the two pwtitions used for K-3 together and then approving and sending to NVC at same time, since last Feb, NVC has made it a policy to close the K-3 and move on with the underlying CR-1 visa petition. The reason K-3 was developed no longer exists, (LONG I-130 processing) K-3 was designed so that a couple can live in USA and wait for I-130 approval.. since USCIS approves I-130 BEFORE sending the K-3 petition to NVC the K-3's function ended (Waiting to I-130 aproval)..

Moving this to K-1 forum due to being unmarried and asking about that visa, not about employment visas.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
