I can't tell you how long I stayed in my first marriage due to the money. In my head I would talk to myself about how much longer to stay; when this would be paid off or when the boy graduated from college.

There really does come a point though where creature comforts just don't make up for self-worth and dignity. Neither of which I felt I possessed at that point.

Take that element out of the original post (written by Marina Adshade) and tell me what you think about it. Let's not get too wrapped up in the tangential point being made by Jane Kim.

I already did.

To parse out a critical and unsubstantiated foundational element of her work (you call it "tangential" - not sure how you arrived to that conclusion) seems an exercise in futility - kind of like analyzing a soundbite (which makes for great entertainment, but precious little in the way of genuine education/enlightenment).

The submissive wife tells you that, "You're the boss!" until she meets her American cohorts that explain that she gets to keep everything that she makes, and half of everything you make. Then it's, start bringing over her family when she becomes a USC, or she leaves you for an old boyfriend from back home, and buys new sports car.
