Many Netflix Streaming Movies Will No Longer Be Available After January 1st

I just noticed last night while looking at my queue of instant viewing movies, several of them had an expiration date as of January 1st.

Just a few that I noticed:

A Shot In The Dark (Pink Panther)

The Pink Panther

The Searchers

Cheyenne Autumn (directed by John Ford)

Not One Less

The King of Masks

.....

So I'm wondering if Netflix will only have a set amount of movies available to view instantly at all times, as opposed to continuously expanding their library? If so, this is going to suck.

Haven't noticied, hope it is not limited.

Do you know if Netflix works in Germany with my US based account? I am sure someone in Germany can not sign up, but just wondering if it works otherwise.

i think it has more to do with licensing rights

Yes, it should work anywhere that you have internet access provided the country you are in isn't blocking the site. Streaming movies/ tv shows are the way of the future, IMO. I think we're going to see huge changes in the way most people view such media over the next few years. Smart phones are already part of the picture.

Steve - I've always noticed movies that expire on my instant list. I think some things are only available for a set amount of time.

Yes, it should work anywhere that you have internet access provided the country you are in isn't blocking the site. Streaming movies/ tv shows are the way of the future, IMO. I think we're going to see huge changes in the way most people view such media over the next few years. Smart phones are already part of the picture.

It only steams in the US. It actually pops up and says something like "we noticed you are not located inside the United States. due do licensing agreements streaming is not available outside of the US. If you are in the US and this message has popped up please contact us."

Man, that sucks. I do know it is available in Canada. Perhaps they'll eventually expand into other markets.

I noticed it over the summer when I logged in to suspend my account while I was away. it always goes straight to the instant page when I log in and that popped up in a separate window.

in England they have something like netflix called Love Film. they offer video games but no streaming. I thought the video game thing was an interesting idea.

as far as limited availability - I read somewhere that the contracts that Netflix has with the studios are not unlimited and do expire, so that is why some movies expire. But I have seen some come back also. I guess when there is a new contract between Netflix and the studio that owns the movie it comes back.

I have also left expired movies in my queue and they have been reactivated later.

My husband and I noticed a lot of films and shows were marked as being unavailable after the 20th of December earlier this month. Most of them were still there afterwards so maybe it's just a case of renewing their license or such?
