AOS - what name do I use?

I know what you're thinking but I am confused.

I applied for a Social Security Number and I got it in my maiden name when I first got here.

Then we got married and went back to the SSA Office to change my name (basically add his to mine with a hyphen). I'm still waiting to hear from them.

Now I'm adjusting status. Will they get confused if I use my married name (my maiden + his) on all these forms? Of course I will attach the wedding certificate.

And what happens afterwards when on my passport I only have my maiden name (I can't be arsed to change it, I just renew my passport before moving to the US)?

Use the name you want on your green-card and will use legally, there are lines on I-485 and G-325A for maiden name I-485 "Name on I-94" and G-325A "Other names used"

If you use maiden name and later decide that you want to change name on green-card it WILL COST YOU, filing an I-90 to change name is $450.

I applied with my married name before getting my SSN (had applied for SSN, but it took a while), so yes...apply with the name you want to use from now on!

+1 Applied in my married name. You don't need to change your passport until you're ready to, but I would always travel with a copy of my marriage license because it will confuse the CBP when you re-enter! lol

Also, don't forget that your ticket will need to be booked in your passport name. I haven't changed my passport for the very reason that I have credit with the airline we flew into the US on, because I'd bought a return flight. I have until June 2011 to use that 'money' but they can't transfer it from one name to another...
