Hi guys, stupid question but what happens if there are discrepancies and errors in your green card application? Will you just need to correct and resubmit any missing info or will they force you to start the whole entire process again? Just curious in the event that something doesn't check out when I submit my dads application to adjust status.

Thanks

The reason I ask is I am compiling all his info right now and he is getting i-693 document completed soon. I plan on just sending everything in to the best of my knowledge and fixing anything wrong when they come back with an error rather than fussing and trying to perfect the entire application. Does anyone think this is a good idea? Sort of like the mantra "just get started, and fix things that break along the way".

If something is wrong or you have submitted incomplete documents required - You will get an (Request for Evidence letter) which will prolong the processing of your application.

Please do your best level to read instructions and send what documents needed.

I got an RFE, it took me 2 weeks to send it so that's 2 weeks wasted plus Holiday seasons and what not... blaaah.

So yeah - Make sure to double triple check everything!

Good luck on your Journey.

Depends on what the error is. If it's a material fact (i.e., a fact that could determine whether or not the petition is approved) then it could result in the petition being denied. If it's not a material fact (e.g., you messed up his former wife's birthday on the G-325A) then it won't affect anything.

However, I strongly urge you to take your time and get it right the first time. USCIS doesn't always give you a second chance to fix things. Your mantra might be ok if you're patching up the car to take a trip across town, but would you trust this approach if you were fixing up an airplane for a flight across the country?

Thank you very much guys for the advice, I checked everything thoroughly as you guys suggested and sent everything in 3 weeks ago. I got some notice of actions in the mail today that I hope meant that everything was successful. I posted another question about what they could mean in the forums.

Thanks again and sorry for the late reply.
