Paid wrong amount for Visa

My Fiancee went to our country's local bank (BPI) to pay the VISA fee. However, she was misinformed by the employee of the bank and made her pay only half of the $350. What do we do? Do I ask her to go to the bank and have her pay the difference of the $350. She did receive some kind of receipt for the amount that she paid. Can we pay the difference at the US Embassy in Manila? Please advise. :help:

Thank You.

I would suggest going back to the bank immediately and paying the remainder, and be sure to get another reciept.

Why on Earth would a bank teller force a customer to only pay half of the amount they want to pay? What was their reasoning? Bring the receipt back, pay the remainder, get another receipt.

Exactly. They just assumed it was for that amount without asking what type of visa we have, which was infuriating. I asked my fiance to see if she can pay the rest of the amount and the manager told us that we can't because our fee has already been processed. He said that we pay the rest of the amount in the consulate. (He got this information by searching on the internet). So to be sure, I called the embassy myself and they advise me otherwise. They told me to pay the rest of the amount at the bank because they don't take payments inside the consulate. And without paying the full amount, she will not let be in inside the consulate at the time of her visa interview. So I will call my fiancee to go back to the bank and insist paying the rest of the amount and get another receipt. I just hope this is not going to hold back our process.

I will update again for the result.

Thank you.

Wow, what a crazy situation. It was the bank's error and they should allow you to pay the rest of the amount. Hope everything goes well! Let us know.

Prior to June the fee was $131, perhaps officer was unaware of the change, OR beneficiary was not clear in stating for a K-1 visa, and was charged the fee for a visitors visa.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Right! That's what I was probably thinking as well. They probably thought it was still the old amount or a different kind of VISA. But regardless shouldn't we just be able to pay the rest of the amount with no problem? They have my fiancee's passport number so they can record the full paid amount of the K1 visa to her record..all they have to do is give us another receipt for the rest of amount so it will total out to $350.
