Writing Case # on Paperwork to NVC

Every so often, I read a post that ask "should I write my case # on the documents that I send to NVC?"

The answer is a big YES.

A little analyze:

*NVC receives hundreds, maybe thousands of packages per day/week.

*These packages are opened & put in a pile to be intered into the system.

*If documents are not properly secured - there is a chance that something may fall out.

*If a paperwork do fall out AND it is not labeled - I think that they just put that paperwork into a large pile of "unknown" paperwork.

*I do not think that any of the NVC workers will spend extra time going through countless packages to find out which package that this document belongs to.

*However, if your paperwork is labeled with the case number & it do falls out - it may go into that country's pile of "loose" paperwork maybe to be sorted out later.

*When you your case is reviewed & something is found to be missing - they could just look in that country's pile of "loose" paperwork to see if your "missing" paperwork is there.

*If your paperwork is there, it make may only delay your case for a day or two but if it isn't there - you case could be delayed for days/weeks as you having to resend the missing paperwork.

*After a certain time period, I think that they destroy/shred the "unknown" paperwork.

This is all speculation as we do not know what actually happens in NVC - but this is the best scenerio that I can think of.

To be safe - write your case # on ALL documents you send to NVC as well as secure all paperwork.

I nilcipped each document separately to prevent papers falling out of the stack. Nilclips are nice because they are easy to remove but holds papers together when you need them to.
