Hi,

My husband recently got his green card....he has a conditional green card for 2 yrs which will expires in May or June 2012. Due to certain circumstances, he had to travel to london for a year scholarship for his master program and will be over in September or November. His first visit to the state was in June and he left July ending. He'll be here (US) for the christmas for two weeks and the half. My question is will this cause us a problem in renewing his green card for 2012? And also, What are the requirement for renewing a conditional green card?

the main country that my husband is from is not the country he's doing his master program at but he did traveled from our country to come to the US before going to london for schooling. Please help!!!!

Make sure he has sufficient ties to America. Such as bank accounts. Make sure he files taxes properly every year. Make sure you keep proof that he went to UK to study and not to live there. And that he always had the intention of return to America. Make sure he visits America as often as he can during the year. You shouldn't have any problem but generally you want to stay in America for the majority of the two years.

Thanks for the replied.

My husband is not working right now because he's in school but he do get allowance from his scholarship program. So, are you saying that he's still suppose to file taxes? I am the only person that is working and in school fulltime....another thing,I have not change my filing status on my W-2, would this affect me. In my own opinion, the reason i have not change it is because he's not working in the States and in London. So, do i still need to change my W-2 to married or I should wait until his program is over? which would be in Sept.2011 or Nov.2011. Please advise on this. As for the bank accounts, my husband has an account on his own and we both have a joint account.
