Hello,

My wife (already a US Citizen) and I (the USC) are planning on having my mother-in-law from Philippines come visit us for a few months here in California. We don't know where to start. We did look over the application process on the us embassy manila website and there are things there that are still not clear to us.

Has anyone had their in-law(s) come here to the US for a visit and have been issued a B-2 visa successfully? we'd like to hear from you and your experience, and any tips for us would be appreciated. And if anyone could share their B-2 interview experience, that would be great.

Thank you.

Pete

It has very little to do with you, They apply. Interviews are very short, 2 or 3 questions, often questions they know the answers to.

there is a separate forum for B2 visas.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

PROVING STRONG TIES TO THE PHILIPPINES is the biggest hurdle that they need to overcome when applying for a visitor's visa. Strong ties include rest of the family that will be left there, properties(like lands, homes, cars/vehicles), a stable job or a lucrative business, a significant amount of money in the bank, etc. Like what Boiler said, they need to prove to the USEM that they will return to the Philippines after their visit and not do TNT(Tago ng tago or overstay), you have no impact on this application at all.
