Job Section on Bio Form

Hello Everyone, my USC fiancee and I have a quick question about her current work status. She's spent the last six months living with me here in England on a visitor's visa so we could see how we would do living together before we took on the visa process. Everything went great and we know we want to spend the rest of our lives together. She returned to the USA just two weeks ago and we're filling out and filing the VISA papers. The concern is that because she JUST got back to the USA after being gone six months she's not working. She's currently looking for a job but as she's looking for a full-time 'career' position (she's a public relations professional) it could take a month or so. SO, what we're wondering is, how much would it hurt us if under the 'list your jobs for the past 5 years" she didn't have anything from last year on? We'll definitely be able to prove support by the time the interview comes around, but would it hurt us now if the bio form didn't show her having a job at the present time? Should she head to the mall or temp. agency and just get a part-time position while she looks for her full-time 'career' job? Could we be denied do you think? Thanks guys! :help:

I can tell you that on my I-129F for my English fiance, I had to put 'not presently employed' on the G-325A. This is because I'm a student, and don't have time to have a job. I haven't gotten our application approved yet (just sent it), but I can't imagine that you would get rejected over that. There's nothing illegal or wrong with being unemployed, and everyone may have different reasons, and there are many legit reasons. What really matters is that by the time of the K-1 interview, your fiancee can support you, either alone or with a co-sponsor, and you already know about that. I say it's best to be honest in the application and don't worry about getting a temp job; this is also the advice I've received from the forums when I asked similar questions about employment, but I'm new to this process so I can't say anything with certainty.

Don't worry about it - just get a cosponsor if she can't sponsor you based on her income. Its not a big deal. Good luck

Thanks. She was just worried they'd deny her if they thought she was 26 and not working...but she should have a job REALLY soon but we didn't want to wait one day longer than necessary to start the process.

Agree with the other posters. Just put umemployed. As long as one can show support and that the visa applicant meets the public charge provisions of the law, all should be cool  Oh and make sure there is no gaps in ANY time frames.

example when completing time frame for jobs (or residence etc)

march 2005.......present

october 2004.....march 2005

april 2003.........october 2004

march 2001......april 2003

and so on.

Leave no gaps. Members have in the past received RFE's requesting gaps be corrected.
