Social Securit Card change after EAD

Hello everyone,

i received my ead card 2 weeks ago and went to social security office to change my ssc. i received my new ssc yesterday but it still says " valid for work only with DHS authorization".. will they erase this part when i get my green card? and when i apply for a job, most application forms ask for ssn. so when employers check my ssn through e-verify.com, will it seem like, i don't have any work permit again ( even though i received my ead card)?

SSN office will only issue you 3 cards. Be carefull. When you have your green card yes the words are removed from it when you go in and ask for it removed.

Yes after you get your greencard you can go back to SS office and get them to issue you another card with the Valid for work part removed. What this means in the meanwhile is that everytime you apply for jobs and they want a copy of your SS card you also supply them with a copy of your EAD card too.

We used the EAD to apply for Vika's first card as well. She couldn't get a driver's license without it. We went back with the GC to have a new SSN without the restriction issued. No problem for us because she wasn't planning to work immediately.

thank you so much guys! if i knew that, i would not go to social security office to change my card, i thought they were going to erase the restriction part with my ead.. anyway i will probably receive my green card within this week, so i will go to ss office and request a new card again

Just remember to hold onto your old SSN card until you get the new card. If they ask for the old card when applying for the unrestricted card, say your dog ate it. LOL
