Computerworld - Ever think that it's time to weed out some of your Facebook friends?

You know the ones.... You see their name in your news feed and can't remember how you know them? Or maybe it's your annoying cousin or the former colleague who fills your wall with irritating political posts or updates about where he went for lunch.

Well, comedian and television host Jimmy Kimmel feels your pain. Kimmel, the host of the late-night show Jimmy Kimmel Live, is promoting Nov. 17 as National UnFriend Day. All those Facebook friends who aren't actually your friends - it's time to get rid of them, according to Kimmel.

"We should have a lot of the real stuff. We should have less of the fake stuff like you have on Facebook," said Kimmel, talking about friendships. "I'm asking you to unfriend anyone on Facebook who isn't really your friend - the annoying people. The people who feel the need to inform you of every thought that enters their head.... I would guess that 90% of your Facebook friends aren't even your friends at all. Most of them you probably don't even like."

i unfriended someone a few months back, i thought they were a friend in RL but i guess not when they took offence and started with death threats and bullshit...

I don't mind pol posts on my wall, that's why I hang out on VJ after all, I guess.

Besides, the most annoying things on my wall are all the posts in Thai that I can't even read.
