Okay, sorry this is my third question in the past couple days.... I'm just so lost with the new Montreal procedures. They sent us both a copy of P3, and gone are the days when the first page says "please allow 4 to 6 months for the interview".... now it's basically a letter telling me to go online, register with a DHL "near me" (aka the closest one TWO HOURS AWAY)..... and I've been able to log in to the new scheduling website, as it tells me to do to select my DHL location.

It also says the earliest available interview is Feb 15th, 2011...... should I go ahead and try to schedule my interview now? Or would that screw things up in the future?

I guess I just don't see what would have changed between now and when DOS says P4 has been sent..... I'm seriously confused.

NOT enjoying being part of the new pilot online program for Montreal.

Any insights humanly possibly are greatly appreciated!

I wish i was part of the pilot program it would've saved me some time and i have no experience with this but i am sure someone else has the answer for you

Good Luck with the process

Well, they are only doing this new program with Montreal as far as I know, so it probably wouldn't have helped the consulate in Egypt. I had all my ducks in a row for the OLD process, not knowing this would all change, so now it's completely new, and I'm starting at square one, not knowing anything. Montreal is a long wait anyway, so I think I would have preferred the old process that at least I was familiar with.

Thanks for the luck. I might need it.

yeah but it asks me to check a box saying I have been authorized by the consulate to schedule my interview. I think I won't schedule it, because I don't want to check the box, since it isn't true... unless they mean I've been sent P3, which tells me to go to that website.

UGH. new way = confusing.

I think what I'll do it print all my DS forms tomorrow and mail via Canada post. Then, I'll just wait for P4 and schedule using the online way, and register for DHL then. I'm not driving 2 hours to London to send the package via DHL. That's a bit absurd.

P4 is the interview date letter the confirmation snail mail that you have an interview on that date.... its not another packet saying to make your interview.

The longer you wait to make your interview date the further your interview will move away from you.

Fill out the paperwork you need, book your medical and then book your interview date. Don't wait too long.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Right. But I was referring to Packet 3, not Packet 4. Packet 3 is all new now, with all the online and DHL processing, and VJ's wikis and guides for Packet 3 in Montreal no longer apply. Everything is different than it was even a few months ago.

It appears that no one on VJ has really gotten this new Packet 3 yet.

I've figured out a solution that I hope will work, and if it doesn't, I guess I'll try again.

Edited to add: Packet 3 says to fill out the email address in DS-230, as the interview scheduling (ie the old Packet 4) is no longer sent via snail mail, but will simply be an email notification to schedule your own interview.

Yes but you were saying to wait till you got P4 in your other post.

I have actually spoken to quite a few people who got the new P3 and have already booked interviews. Most of them booked the interview right after they have booked their medicals. Some booked their interview as soon as they got the P3 instructions on how to book the interview. Most of thos posts are in another thread from a while ago about the P3 new stuff confusions. I even remember when they talked about how the system was errord and how you can change your interview date after you make it if you need to. soooooooooo I guess I will go back in the canada threads and look for that thread for you?

But how can I click the box that says, "you have received permission from the consulate to book your interview" (or something along those lines), when I have not received that permission?

This was also on the new interview scheduling website: If an appointment is scheduled before the case is ready for processing, the applicant will be turned away the day of the appointment which may result in considerable delays in the application process.

I haven't even sent in my Packet 3 info (ie DS 230, et al) bc I just received it literally tonight.... it just doesn't make sense to me.

I know what you're saying, that people have scheduled the interviews online already, but I don't think they did it before Montreal even received their DS-230, etc...... I could be wrong.

I'd be more than happy to check the box and schedule my interview ASAP! I just don't want to get turned away the day of the interview as it says above.

I guess what I really want to know is.... do I still have to wait til P3 info (DS 230 and all that) is logged?

Pretty sure the answer is yes. Otherwise, I would be scheduling an interview and they wouldn't even have my DS info in their system....

I feel like a moron. I'm actually a fairly intelligent person, haha... this is just new and kind of intimidating because I don't want to screw it up. We already waited 5 months for NOA2, and I really, really don't want to mess this up. Funny/moderately shameful that immigration can make a person cry.

THanks for your links, but if I'm not mistaken, all of those people had already sent back their P3 info and were waiting to get their "old" P4, with the interview date on them, BUT instead got this new fangled thing telling them to schedule their own interview online.

Again, I could definitely be wrong, but I think that's how it went with that group.

I scheduled my interview back in December, when the new system began. I had read on VJ that some people had received a letter instructing them to do just that so I decided to go ahead and do it to. When I got to the part that asks if I had been approved, I freaked out since I hadn't been. So I called them and asked. I had been, so I went back online and scheduled. That's what I would do if I were you. Good luck!
