My fiance sent me original copies of his 1st divorce way back in 1995.It consists of 30 pages. I'm not sure if it's the correct divorce paper he sent me. What I mean is will it be enough to be presented as proof of divorce instead of the divorce decree which is 1 or 2 pages only. I would appreciate response from anyone. Thank you.

For the petition you need to submit a copy of the divorce decree. It should be signed by the judge and dated. You should take the original divorce decree to the interview.

For the petition, you submit a copy of the "certified copy of divorce decree". For Washington, this can be one page. For Texas it's everything, whether 2 or 100 pages. For other States, it is what it is. "Certified copy of divorce decree".

Yes, whatever constitutes the actual divorce decree in your state. Mine was New York state and the actual decree document which was dated and signed by the judge was 3 pages long.

Later on, and just to be thorough I privided my fiancee a complete copy of the entire divorce document which included the decree (first 3 pages) and some 24 additional pages (which I don't believe were necessary). I did take a "provide em with everything possible" philosophy because I figured it best to provide my fiancee with more than was needed "just in case" for her interview.

Thanks for the replies.

Again, I went over to my fiance's original divorce papers. I found out the 1st and 2nd pages look like a certified divorce decree, because there are dates and signatures certifying it as a copied from the original document, and in the last paragraph, there are statements " It is further ordered, adjudged, and decreed that the plaintiff & defendant are hereby divorced from the other and the marriage contract heretofore existing be and the same is hereby dissolved and set aside."

The succeeding 28 pages are the parties agreements and the child custody papers.

What do you think could it be considered as a certified divorce decree? By the way, it came from Ohio.
