What do I put on the I-485 "Info about you" section that asks "Current USCIS STatus" and "expires on"? The 90 days were up on Oct 21st. We married before then but are just now getting the paperwork together (I know, better to have it in beforehand). But what do I write in this box? Oct 21st? But his visa in the passport was for 6 months from the date of issuance (not the 90 days after entry), so can I put that date? Similar thing on the 765-- "current immigration status"?

Also, from the USCIS website, it looks like if we're filing the 485 for the first time, we just pay that fee and don't have to pay the fees for the 765 (EAD) and 131 (advance parole), which sounds too good to be true, but I swear, that's what's written.

Also, any experience translating documents? It appears from a VJ template I saw, that pretty much anyone (not necessarily a certified translator) can translate a document. We need to translate a birth certificate. I can do it, but I wonder if they would see that as suspect? I could have a friend do it too, but she's not certified or anything either...

One more question-- am I getting it right that, unlike the original visa app, we don't need to send in our "evidence" of being madly and romantically in love at the initial mailing of the 485 but rather bring it to the interview? Correct?

Thanks everyone! VJ always comes through when it comes to getting the scoop!

Follow the Example Forms

Correct, it's a three-fer deal.

Yes, interview only.
