I went to vote last night with wife in tow.

She said she would wait in the car and when I asked why,

she said she thought she wouldn't be permitted in the polling place.

In Thailand she was a teacher and as such was obliged to be a

"polling officer" during elections there. I heard plenty of war stories about that.

She was surprised that she could walk right in and nobody challenged her.

As a permanent resident she can't vote but nobody will stop per from going to

a polling place.

She was also surprised that there weren't trucks with hucksters with bullhorns

looking to buy votes for their candidate. I said that isn't permitted here.

"This is real democracy" she said.
