Hi everybody, I´ve some concerns regaring the medical exam for the visa.

What vaccinations do I need, and will i still need them if I had for example rubella and mumps?

And I read here in the guides ,that an applicant didn´t get a vise because of a cancerous mole. I´ve many moles,my dermatologist looked them over this week and said they are all fine. A few are really dark and could be mistaken for cancerous moles. Should I get a letter from my dermatologist stating that none of my moles is cancderous?

What was ur experience at this medical, what does the exam include?

Thank u very much

Hi Marie,

Generally speaking, I say its always good to have a written confirmation when there is any doubt, especially if you need to have someone independent making a decision for you/filling out a form for you/needs to submit a statement for you etc.

I assume the medical exam for your visa is the same as for when you do an adjustment of status AOS I-485 package - if so, make sure you have your little yellow book "Impfbuch" and or other records showing you have a current Tdap (Tetanus and Diphtheria) as well as MMR (Measls, Mumps and Rubella - Masern, Mumps und Roeteln) vacciation/history of it.

I also had to have a TB (Tuberculosis) skin test performed. I got these already done at my doctor's office (made the whole official exam with an authorized doctor cheaper).

Good luck on your journey :)

At least in France, for the process, the embassy designated a specific person and specific laboratories to run the tests. they would not accept anything form another doctor.

If you no longer have your Impfbuch, book of vaccination, just go to your doctor, and have a serological test performed to proof that all your vaccinations are up to date. You can google easily what you need.

Viel Glück und viel Mut!

I defínitely will get a sergology test to evaluate my vaccination status. Im good with rubella and I had as a child 2 measel shots.

Im just have to see what to do about mumps and varicella, because i´ve to figure out if I have to pay them or my insurance. And with TB im born in the east part of Germany so we still got vaccinated for TBC.

How does it anyway work? U go to the medical and they look u over and tell u u need certain vaccinations or do u call them before and they establish over the phone ur vaccination status, so u can go and get them before the medical?!

Once I learned that our K1 was approved on my fiancee's end, I went ahead and had my doctor ordered a serological test on all my vaccines and have them given me a certified document (with their stamp). It's how I discovered that my rubella vaccine was actually never working. So it can be helpful.

If I recall correctly (and please guys, correct me if I'm wrong), you should receive from the US embassy paperwork with information they are going to ask you.

They will ask you to get tested for tuberculosis and Aids and other stuff at designated laboratories. They give a list of the laboratories from whom they accept the results. They also give a list of doctors where you have to get checked.

This doctor will file a specific bilingual document, in your case German/English, testifying that you are fit and do not have dangerous illness.

For me too, the testing and all the other process was out of the pocket and not covered by insurance. Just part of the process. Aber was soll's, it's necessary. Good part is that once this is done, you don't have to worry about - period.

I'm sorry to hijack this topic. I just have a similar situation, I just got my noa2 and since this thread is already talking about medical exams I thought I can ask a question. Here goes, I know that I can call the NVC to find out if they already have my papers and if they do I can go ahead and ask for my case # so that my fiance can call the embassy and try to schedule the earliest possible interview. Now what's not clear to me is if the NVC will send me a letter with the case # on it? I know that after scheduling the interview we can walk in for the medical (at least in the Philippines that's how it is). Now I read here somewhere that all my fiance would need to be able to walk in for the medical is a copy of the noa2 and a "letter" with the case # on it. This is where I'm not sure, do I have to wait for the NVC to send me a letter before my fiance can do her medical? Any information/clarification on this would be appreciated.

Cheers!

As far as I know, the NVC will contact ur fiance. That mail should include the case#, a checklist and information where she can get her medical taken. She has to fill out and gather the documents that are on the checklist and send it back to the embassy, than she´ll get mail from the embassy with her interview appointment.

Thats what I read here so far, not sure if its correct
