I just read about this alcoholic drink that is sold in the midwest and NE mostly called Four Loko. It is a combination alcohol and energy drink, sounds delicious already. Now lets look at the contents of this drink. One 23.5 ounce bottle of Four Loko is the equivalent of 6 beers, two cups of coffee and has 660 calories per serving. Sounds like a winner. But that's not all folks. An otherwise healthy 19 year old kid suffered a heart attack after drinking this. Consumer Protection FTW!! Oh wait.

Didn't drink it yet, but I will. B-)

You better hurry. They just banned them in my state!

November 4th, 2010

(WJBK) - Michigan officials Thursday announced the ban of alcohol energy drinks throughout the state and will give manufacturers 30 days to remove the products from store shelfs, according to a release from the Michigan Liquor Control Commission.

Commissioners said the drinks should not be on Michigan shelves until there is more research done by the federal Food and Drug Administration to determine their safety.

According to reports , some drinks like a single can of Four Loko , contain as much caffeine as five cups of coffee, and the alcohol equivalent of six bottles of beer.

Four Loko is not the only youth-marketed drink that combines alcohol and caffeine.

Another popular alcoholic energy drink is Sparks, which has been on the market since 2002. After MillerCoors, the producers of Sparks, was sued by The Center for Science in the Public Interest in 2008, it announced that caffeine would be removed from Sparks drinks. Other energy drinks to combine alcohol, extensive flavorings and caffeine include Tilt and Joose.

Just a few minutes ago I notices that we have 4Loko, Sparks, Tilt, and Joose at our local gas station....so I guess we have them all!

Ah...to be young(er) again...but now I'd probably keel over and you'd read about me in the paper!
