Can a Cenomar Expire, if received shortly before marriage?

I am really confused. A cenomar is suppose to show that a person is single before they are married. Yet my wife had her interview and provided her Cenomar which was dated 2008, it was received for our marriage. The Embassy says they will mail her visa Air21, but they want her to send them an updated Cenomar because the one she submitted is too old. This doesnt make sense because we are married, and the Cenomar provided clearly shows that she was single at the time that we married. How can that expire?

The updated Cenomar will show that she was single as per NSO records on so and so date and married to XXX on this date. A cenomar is only valid for a year upon issuance. Some agencies only honor it 6 months from the date of issuance.

Technically, she no longer has a Cenomar (Certificate of No Marriage) as she is married. When she requests the Cenomar she will be issued a Cemar (Certificate of Marriage) which will list the dates(s) of all of her registered marriages.

Her status has changed since 2008. So technically, what is on her CENOMAR is not current (expired). When she applies for a CENOMAR at this time, what she will receive is a certificate that will list your current marriage.

Personally, I think it's silly for them to request it, but what are you going to do? Just do as they ask so she can get your visa and you guys can finally be together again. :) When your spouse submits it, clearly put on the cover letter that it is for an IR1/CR1 visa.

Greetings!

Have you submitted your NSO marriage certificate?

my suggestion is that:

I will contact the Embassy or will visit the Embassy and have my marriage certificate ready just incase they will ask for another one.

I will also remind them that i am married so i dont think i needed a CENOMAR.

At Anna's interview the I/O told her "Everything looks good, I'll approve you pending verification of your Cemar with the NSO". Luckily Anna had already secured a very recent copy of the Cemar and was approved on the spot...

I don't think they're asking too much, it's just another way to confirm that the rest of the submitted documentation is valid and unaltered.

FWIW, not only did Anna have a NSO Authenticated copy of our Marriage Contract/Certificate but our file contained at least 2 copies of it and one original already.

Thanks for all of your comments. Yes she did have a Marriage certificate issued by NSO, and they also received to certified copies of the marriage cert from NVC. The problem is She had to move back to her province which is a very dangerous place. Her family could not stay in the condo any longer. And she insisted on going back with them because she want them to be at the airport when she leaves. So now the delays concerns me because her area is really unsafe, Ganun talaga. But I can only wait now. They said she doesnt have to go back to the embassy, They will simply mail it when they receive the update which will be sent by NSO directly to Embassy.
