Ok, I am working on a K-1 Fiancee Visa and have a little (?) problem with my birth certificate. My first name is "Russel" on the birth certificate, but is "Russell" on my Passport. I have used "Russell" my entire life and was a little surprised when I saw my birth certificate the first time. So, is this a serious problem? Do I sign and use "Russel" on the forms? Do I include "Russell" as "..Other Names Used.." on G-325A?

Thank you

-Russ

As far as I know when you apply for a passport it should be the name that is on your birth certificate so its odd that they are different. You could go to the social security/birth cerficiate office and ask for a new birth certificate and tell them that the name is spelled incorrectly. I don't know if it would be an easy fix or not. If not then I would contact the local USCIS office and either email or phone and ask what you should do in this situation.

don't worry about it..Russell/Russel is not a problem. When you sign your forms just use you signature as you do every day... however that is.

FWIW, in my signature despite having 13 characters in my name, when I sign you might actually able to read 3 letters as the rest is all scribble..
