Divorce date

I'm in the process of filling out our i129f and I'm wondering if the date of my divorce and the date that I met my Fiance are going to raise a flag with the person reviewing my application. We met in May of 2008 about two months after I separated from my ex-wife. My divorce wasn't final until May 2009 (my state requires a 12 month separation before granting divorce). Should I be concerned about this? I realize I can't change the facts but I'd like to prepare for any questions that may arise.

Thanks in advanced for any advice!

You shouldn't have a problem. The only thing that they are looking for in this matter is that you are legally free to marry. My fiance and I are in the same boat; he was separated a year before we met then filed for the divorce two months after we met. His divorce was a 10 month process. I am filing the I129f now with his September divorce date. Good luck!

great topic to cover in an 'evolution of relationship' letter.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Thanks. I'm sure it won't be a problem either but it always helps to get another perespective. Nice to have that validation.

Excellent point. I've written relationship timeline as a supplement to the I129F. Is your suggestion that I add it to this or as information supplied at the visa interview?

Include in the relationship timeline that you were separated at the beginning.

both..

--add to it

--information supplied at interview

remember, an EOR letter is a 'living document' - it grows over time - so for China-bound petitions -

file one with the I-129F submittal,

then 'the latest version' on interview day.
