This question is more aimed @ the Australian K1 filers......We sent our packet 3 back to the Sydney consulate last week and I'm just wondering 'HOW' they will let us know the interview date? Will it be by email or by post. From the start I had always thought that we would receive our packet 3 by post but both Mike and I received it by email which was fabulous!!! So now I'm hoping its the same for the interview date??

You'll receive the interview date by email and it will be sent to both you and the USC - the interview is normally schedule around 3 weeks after the receiving of the email.

If you're having to overnight in Sydney for the interview I can recommend the travellodge at Phillip Street. Was $109 for the night and a 5 minute walk to the consulate :)

Let us know how you go :)

I understand - I actually filed just before you and havent seen Ted since I left the States 28 March :) I finally got my passport and visa back mid september but not flying out until the end of this month (24 sleeps to go) so we could save a little extra money to put towards AOS etc. Our wedding is booked for 13 November and I'm getting really excited

What part of the States are you headed to? And am I to suspect by your signature you may be a fellow kiwi?

Anything else you need to know just holler :D

Carebear....thank you again...I'd love to know your first name....lol! Thats always nice to know. My name is Brodi but people just call me B. And yes you're right, I'm a kiwi but lived in Aussie for many years (like most of us...lol) My fiance lives in Utah which is where we'll be moving too. (We...is myself and my three boys) They are very excited. Where are you off too in the States?

I did have another question...(besides the one I'd already asked you on your personal page, so check your page if you haven't already done so.... )

I've been so focused on just getting this fiance visa approved so Mike and I could be together again but I haven't looked too much into what happens after we are married and what I need to do then. I saw you mentioned extra money for the AOS....can you head me in the right direction as to what I need to do once we're married? How much are we looking at??

Hey Brodi I'm Carey :) Pleased to meet you *waves* lol.

I've been in Oz 7 1/2 years. No children so just myself and my gorgeous Jack Russell making the trip - he flies out of Brisbane the day before me :D

Okies so the short version of the story is fly into the US, get married within the 90 days and apply for AOS as soon as possible thereafter. You can file for the Adjustment of Status, Advance Parole (permission to leave the country) and Employment Authority Document (EAD) all at the same time.

An awesome fellow Aussie, Vanessa, has it all mapped out step by step http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/235331-aos-ead-ap-from-k1-the-aussie-way-doc-list-included/

The only thing you need to bear in mind is that the AOS fees go up 23 November so instead of it being US$1010 its now US$1070 (including the biometrics) and I'm not 100% sure of what the fees are for your children. Once through that you get a conditional 2 year green card and conditions can be removed (more paperwork) 90 days from expiry.

I'm headed to Fort Worth in Texas :D

Hey Brodie yeah we got our packet 3 info by email to actually sent it to my Wayland and then he forwarded it on to me to print out. But the appointment packet 4 was sent by email/ mail cant really remember lol within 4 weeks of sending packet 3 in.

After you get married darl you will need to file for permanent residency and your advanced parole and employment authority. You can find all these forms with instructions on USCIS site and download and print them out and take with you to the states, as I did then you have them all with you to get started after the wedding. Yeah Vanessa on here is a gem and her instructions are great.

Kepp us informed ok.
