Just want to understand this part...

Hi Guys,

I just want to be sure I am understanding the next steps after the 129-f approval. This was my understanding of what happens ....

1. USCIS sends the NVC the petition I put together that was approved.

2. From there The NVC sends it to the US Embassy in Cyprus.

3. The US Embassy sends Marcel Packet 3 which I am thinking are the initial forms he needs to email/fax back to them to let them know he is ready for his interview.

4. When the embassy receives the filled out forms from packet 3 they then schedule him for his interview and then send Marcel the packet 4 which I am assuming are the final forms/ instructions he will need to bring for his actual interview.

Now when I spoke to the rep at the NVC she mad it seem like the NVC sent something to Marcel? Can anyone tell me which is correct and if the steps are correct above in regards to what happens?

Thanks so much in advance,

Melissa

Steps one and two are correct after that I am not sure because you will be interviewing in Cyprus and not Nigeria you might want to post in the cyprus portal. because in Nigeria once the approved case has been sent to the embassy in Nigeria....Nigeria then sends you an email that has a link (pkt3) and your interview date (pkt4) none of which you have to fill and send back. You take it with you on your interview date. You see that is why I dont want to confuse you after your above mentioned step 2 because how and when you you receive pkt 3 and 4 depends on the embassy and I can only speak on the nigerian embassy not cyprus hope I didnt confuse you....Good luck

I just looked at your time line and saw that the NVC sent you a letter which is something I had didn't receive yet, but mentioned to the rep and she said I wouldn't get anything. All she said was that they had mailed out the paperwork to Marcel, and even read off the Universities address to me etc..and that he should start looking now for it at the University. I'm going to call the Embassy in Cyprus to see if they received the package etc...

Thanks again,

Melissa

You will get a letter from NVC when they are done with it... it will have your case number on it and say that the case has been approved and sent to the appropriate consulate/embassy...

Steps one and two are correct. Steps 3 and 4 vary on the consulate. For a K-1 the NVC does not send anything to your fiance. They WILL send you a letter saying the case has been sent to the consulate. That's all.

For a CR-1 the NVC is more involved.

FWIW the people you speak to "at NVC" are contracted telephone operators who have little clue as to how the process works. Both the USCIS and NVC 1-800 numbers are reffered to as the "misinformation hotlines"

To my understanding you should get a letter from NVC saying your case has or will be forwarded to cyprus since that is your interviewing embassy. You can try calling the NVC to ask them where is your letter if I were you. K-1 visas the NVC has little to do with so they really shouldnt be telling you much other than they have your case it arrived on so so so date and left on so so so date or maybe it is in additional processing, something along those lines. Is your case still at the NVC you might want to ask them that because I didnt get a letter until my case was complete and being sent to Nigeria I was at the NVC for 22 additional days. You can call the DOS too to see if cyprus has your case and if they have you can ask them if they have set an interview date the number to the DOS is 202.663.1225. When I called the DOS I asked them had my pkt been receivied in Nigeria and she told me yes I then asked her had they set an interview date and she then gave me the date. So DOS has a lot of information too so you dont have to call all the way to cyprus. Good Luck

Thank you for your response. I had already called the Embassy in Cyprus this morning and was told they had mailed the instructions out to him at his University address on Sept. 15th! So since they are lost somewhere she took his email address down and sent them to him that way. The forms Marcel will need I already have filled out and ready for him so it seems like we are back on track.
