Hi

This might sound really really stupid.

But I am so confused about the whole income assets thing.

My fiance makes more than enough of the minimum requirement. About 4 times as much.

But currently he rents and his truck is in his dads name.

Id rather not spend the extra money to change the trucks name into his own if it doesn't really matter.

He makes all the payments so it could be easily done but if his assets arent even looked at because he makes enough money than it will stay that way.

Is that the care?

Do they look at assets if they make enough money?

Should I change it just in case?

I don't think you have to change the name. They will look at his income tax return, letter from his employer on how much he makes. There are other documents that can prove that he meets the income requirement. They don't care if he's a homeowner or not what they care about is that you won't be a public charge here.

If his current income is over 125% the federal poverty level for his household size plus you, he does not need to list assets.

Well thats good to know but tax return?

His tax return sucked.

He was unemployed from Nov08 to Dec 09.....

Is that going to effect this all?

It was just because the oil industry all shut down but now its back up and he's been working the whole time.

He would have to prove current income is sufficient, in addition to providing the most recent tax return.

Letter from employer, listing job, salary, type of employment, along with 6 months or so of paystubs should be sufficient.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.
