Hey guys,

anybody out there with Hypothyroidism who can tell me what exactly I will have to do to get my medication in the States?

Do I need a prescription? Do I need a note from my German doctor to verify the findings?

Any suggestions, information and advice is welcome!

Thank you :D

You have to see a doctor here, and then they will do blood work to determine the level of medication. Then, they will call the pharmacy to authorize in giving you the right prescription.

Just as Adiian says. Also, this is one of those medications where the brand is better for you than the generic, but could cost you 50-100% more, so when you're working with your Dr to get the right dose, go with one or the other right off.

According to google, Euthyrox is Levothyroxine (name of drug/generic).

I'm taking a letter from my current Dr. and also all my blood tests with me so whom ever I see down there has an idea of what I've been using and what is working for me.

I know in California their are some good thyroid docs.

Well, you should have your TSH level checked every year, but it will be good to have the previous levels and your current dose on hand so you can pick up where you've left off.
