Hello All

Just got engaged to my boyfriend, whom is a US citizen. We are going to get marries in the Bahamas.

We are considering going the route of a CR1 visa.

My question is.....Am I allowed to still travel to and from the US on a B1 tourist visa while I wait for

the CR1 visa to be approved?

Married July 16th

NOA1- August 19th

Touch - August 24th

NOA2 - Feb 27th - Praise the Lord!!!!!!!

Yes.

However, make sure you have plenty of ties to the Bahamas that will compel you to return when you arrive at the POE in the US in case a CBP officer starts questioning whether or not you will return when your authorization to be in the US on a B1/B2 ends. Assume a CBP will have access to information that will make him or her aware you are navigating the CR-1 process.

Thanks!!!! Just curioous because I noticed you switched courses from a K1 visa to a CR1. Why did

you decide to go this route? Just trying to consider options......

Hello All

Just got engaged to my boyfriend, whom is a US citizen. We are going to get marries in the Bahamas.

We are considering going the route of a CR1 visa.

My question is.....Am I allowed to still travel to and from the US on a B1 tourist visa while I wait for

the CR1 visa to be approved?

Yes, the non-US citizen fiance(e) can still travel if he or she has the proper visa and passport to do so. If you get married then, for sure, you would have to do the I 130 rather than the I 129 F (K1). It is nice to have the flexibility in that you are both able to travel. For many of us, the travel is restricted to the US citizen since it is difficult to obtain tourist visas in so many parts of the world.

August 23, 2010 - I-129 F package sent via USPS priority mail with delivery confirmation.

August 30, 2010 - Per Department of Homeland Security (DHS) e-mail, petition received and routed to California Service Center for processing. Check cashed. I-797C Notice of Action by mail (NOA 1) - Received date 08/25/2010. Notice date 08/27/2010.

After 150 days of imposed anxious patience...

January 24, 2011 - Per USCIS website, petition approved and notice mailed.

January 31, 2011 - Approval receipt notice (NOA 2) received by mail. Called NVC, given Santo Domingo case number, and informed that petition was sent same day to consulate.

Called Visa Specialist at the Department of State every day for a case update. Informed of interview date on February, 16 2011. Informed that packet was mailed to fiance on February, 15 2011.

February 21, 2011 - Fiance has not yet received packet. Called 1-877-804-5402 (Visa Information Center of the United States Embassy) to request a duplicate packet in person pick-up at the US consulate in Santo Domingo. Packet can be picked-up by fiance on 02/28.

March 1, 2011 - Medical exam completed at Consultorios de Visa in Santo Domingo.

March 9, 2011 at 6 AM - Interview, approved!

March 18, 2011 - POE together. JFK and O'Hare airports. Legal wedding: May 16, 2011.

I don't know if DCF is available in the Bahamas; however, to be eligible for DCF, your husband would have to be living there for a minimum of 6 consecutive months.

You can mail the I-130 to the Chicago lockbox facility from the Bahamas.
