Interview in flu season; Medical was not

http://www.visajourney.com/content/uscis-vaccination-requirements says:

Q. When does the flu season start for purposes of the seasonal flu vaccine requirement? Since the seasonal flu vaccine is required, do I have to get the seasonal flu vaccine if it is not the flu season?

A. For purposes of the immigration medical examination, the flu season starts on October 1 and ends on March 31 each year. If your immigration medical examination is during this period, you are required to have the seasonal flu vaccine. If you have an immigration medical examination completed between April 1 and September 30, when it is not the flu season for immigration purposes, you are not required to document that you have received the seasonal flu vaccine.

According to *that*, since my fiancé had his medical in June, he's not required to have the flu shot. Can anyone from previous years confirm this? Or, has anyone who had their medical in not-flu season and interview in flu season, been required to get the flu shot? Or can someone point me to the official USCIS documentation that says it's not required if the *medical* wasn't during flu season? So I can print it out and show them if they say he needs it.

If it were me, I'd get it to cover all bases, but it's not me, and I don't want to tell him he "should" get it if it's not necesary. Really don't want an RFE though for something we could've forseen. Can someone please put my mind at ease?

I am not sure but why don't you just get the flu shot anyway because it is so cheap, better to be safe then sorry. I just got the flu shot, they are now combined regular flu and H1N1 and it was fairly cheap.

Medical done in July 2009. No flu shot.

Entered USA in August. No flu shot.

AOS sent in October. No flu shot - no problem with my AOS. Was granted green card in about 2 months.

I had my medical done in september and my interview in october, without the flu shot for either one. As long as the medical is marked off as fine (which it is if you have it in hand) the consulate doesn't care if you have the shot or not.

Thank you for replies, I'm not so worried now.

That's how I think too.. Like I said, if it were me I would get it. I'll certainly talk to my fiancé about it (only occurred to me today that we'll be interviewing in flu season), but I'm not going to tell him what to do. :innocent:

OK then he should be good!

Having since moved to USA, I find it creepy and gross that they offer flu shots at the grocery store for 25$....

I had my medical in February 2004 and my interview in March 2004. I did not have a flu shot as it was not medically required by age. I was 48 at the time. My vaccinations were considered complete and I was never required to get one for the green card.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Aaah! Oops! I did see that page way back before his medical. Slipped my mind since then. Thanks for the reassurance!
