The only economic policy ideas you will hear from the Republican leadership is tax cuts. That's it. I'm not exaggerating.

Bullshit. They also are on the record for wanting to "reform" social security by raising the retirement age to 120 and cutting benefits to a third of current levels. They are also on the record for eliminating the minimum wage, gutting laws prohibiting children from working in coal mines and other good chit like that. Just tax cuts??? You need to put down that "medicinal" weed and pay attention!

I look at policy ideas and judge them on their own merit. The only economic policy ideas you will hear from the Republican leadership is tax cuts. That's it. I'm not exaggerating.

Senate Republicans do seem to have their needle stuck, that's true, but I do not think that all Republicans are devoid of economic acumen none the less.

You need not fear anarchy in America, MC. The real powers behind the throne won't allow that. American politics is Kabuki theater. Never mistake the puppets for the puppetmasters.

I don't doubt it - not all Republicans are nutters - but I'm betting all tea party inspired politicians are.

Rock on Danno, that's a convincing argument, don't bother to tell the electorate what you plan to do in case your opponent uses that against you.

The tea party candidates will be a shambolic mess if they get elected - they'll squabble amongst themselves as much as with the GOP and Dems. Nothing to fear from them at all except the greater disappointment from the public at large which will either lead to more apathy or more anarchy.

Squabbling goes with the territory of politics.... so thats a given.

This much I do know from what experience I have had with T-Party groups (had a meeting last night)

These folks are dedicated to shrinking gov, and reinstitution the mandates of the COnstitution. ......even to the point where no other discussion comes up.

I suspect the political realities will guide the details and targets.

How? What have they said that indicates that either or both are realistic goals? What are their actual proposals with all the numbers crunched? Without that, you got a lot of talk and not much else - if they don't know enough about the 'political realities' now to give you some ball park figures and general areas where cuts can be made what makes you think that somehow this will all be revealed to them once elected?

If uneducated voters like Danno get these guys elected, I'm counting on the squabbling

No, serious candidates crunch the numbers before they get to the meetings in order to be able to advance a meaningful platform.

I can't vote in the US, the candidates I voted for in the UK wouldn't mean a thing to you.
