I believe GC stands for green card. I know that just waiting is not a very nice feeling but like the others said up there, waiting is a huge part of this process! Your lawyer should be able to tell you the normal wait periods, but I know you are probably anxious and I am in your position as well, having just submitted my AOS packet. Our current timeline is in my signature, if you want more details on timing.

Judging by our very short experience, the two week period that everyone mentions above appears to be holding true in our case. Quick question though - will the notices go to you or your lawyer? We did everything ourselves, but your lawyer might also be handling all the return receipts/notices from the USCIS.

Oh, I guess I didn't share this good news with everybody. Our checks actually got cashed out on the 8th day after the USCIS received the package.

So now I'm more chill and relaxing.

We did it on our own too so no lawyer or anything. That's why we are not as acknowledge as everybody else.

Thanks so much for all you guys' helps though!!

That's what the forum is here for. :)

You should be receiving the NOA1s soon. When you do, go to the USCIS site and create an account so you can monitor the status of your applications that way :) You can set it up so the updates are sent to you via SMS or e-mail.

Hello,

I sent my I-485 package and my husband's to the Dallas Lockbox and it was received on August 23rd. I am still waiting for a receipt number for our apps. Do you think this is normal? I am planning to call after 30 days has passed but I am seeing that everybody is currently waiting less for this receipts. Does anybody has a similar experience with Dallas Lockbox? I really appreciate your help!

The lawyer said we'll both receive it, so am so anxious with our mails too..

It helps a lot when you guys share your timelines at least we have a baseline for ourselves.

Good news again!!

We received all three petitions' first NOA!!

Now just waiting for our Biometrics appointment!!!

But also got a question...

I've heard some people said that on the first NOA, it should show case status accepted or rejected something like that??!!

But I've not seen one.

And isn't it true that the receipt numbers that we have on NOA so far are not useful for checking status online?!

Yet we will have to wait until the receipt number we receive after the biometrics appointment.

Please correct me if i'm wrong about it!!

Million thanks!!!

The NOA1 is a receipt notice...this means they received the application and after a once over, has been determined to be initially documentarily complete...so they have accepted it for initial review. During the intensive review process then they may or may not request an RFE. If they don't great. If not, they send you another letter (Request for Evidence), using the corresponding receipt number they gave you in your NOA1. Same thing with Biometrics...they have to associate you with a receipt number (NOA1)...so no way is can a NOA1 convey a refusal or approval...they haven't even started reviewing your application yet :P

The NOA2 is the approval or refusal notice. After the NOA2, they may send you a card production notice, if you applied for AOS or EAD.

If you want major updates, you have to create an account on the USCIS website. Go to the USCIS home page. On the left, click on Sign-Up for Case Updates

Then click on Register as applicant customer

From there, you will get the Terms and Condition page. Click on Accept button to take you to the registration page.

Fill in the registration information. After you have completed it, click Submit to process.

Click on Add Case to My Portfolio every time you want to enter the NOA1 receipt number. Then adjust your settings if you wish to receive e-mail and/or SMS updates. Please take note however, you will NOT receive an e-mail or SMS whenever the file is touched, but only during major milestones in your application process: Request for Evidence, Decision and Card Production.

You will know your file is touched if you see the date under the Last Updated column change.
